Glyburide is a very effective drug taken to control the blood sugar
levels by the patients suffering from diabetes of type 2.Many
medicines and treatments are available for this purpose today in the
market. Glyburide and the Diabeta are one of those many available

drug. Of these Dr Reddy is one of them. The product Generic
Glyburide is also known as Micronase. The drug name Glyburide HCl is
also produced by the same manufacturer.
The packing styles available for these drugs are strips of tablets.
It is sold in doses of 1.25 mg, 2.5 mg and 5 mg. these include trade
names Diabeta, Glynase, Micronase in the United States. Glyburide
sold under the brand Daonil, Semi-Daonil, Euglucon in the United
Kingdom. Dr.Reddy has several marketing venture all over the world.
The company is so famous that their drugs are available even in our
local market. The manufacturers promote this drug for they have
tested that Glyburide, unlike other drugs, has a positive effect.
Later it was found that the patients also consumed ß-hydroxy-ß-methylglutaryl-CoAreductase.
The drug works by inhibiting ATP-sensitive potassium channels in
pancreatic beta cells. This inhibition causes cell membrane
depolarization, opening of voltage-dependent calcium channels. This
triggers an increase in intracellular calcium into the beta cell
which stimulates insulin release. As of 2007, it is one of only two
oral anti-diabetics in the World Health Organization Model List of
Essential Medicines.
